This Dunsmuir Mom & Pop Burger Joint has a story
In the far north of California Dunsmuir sits within a small canyon, And if you know or not it is home to a Delicious, and Diverse food Economy.
With places like Yak’s, Burger barn, Le Perla, the red caboose, and others.
Being such a small little community it has an impressively immense amount of small business, with very little National Chain Stores.
At the north end of Dunsmuir, connected to the community pool sits the Mom & Pop Shop of Sten’s Burger Strand. Also known as Stenburger.
In the spring of 2021 Sten Strandburg husband of Lauri Strandburg sadly passed away.
Stenburger held a special place in my heart as a shop I can visit and always get something good to eat, and share my love of food with them.
It was where I did my first Photoshoot, and I have many lovely memories of this place.
After Sten passed away they had too close for many, many, months.
Lauri eventually found new owners, the Bostick family. Wanting to pursue. Their dream of owning a restaurant.
When they opened back up with the new family I was unsure of it, and I felt like it would be weird being there without Lauri, and Sten.
But amazingly I was welcomed full heartedly into the new Stenburger.
Lauri tasked me with taking photos for them because nobody knew they were back open again.
The amazing cook John Bostick, was super exited to meet me!
I made a deal with them that I would do all of the advertising, and social media, and help them with any tech stuff if they needed, and I’d just get paid in burgers.
I’m exited to see where this little Mom & Pop shop will go next, and I know it’s already a hit with the location, and the absolutely delicious food, and ice cream.
