The unique graffiti of Dunsmuir California
“DOSE” Tag Bomb
Reds Swim Hole Dunsmuir California
Back a couple years ago “DOSE” or “Take a Microdose” painted a mural for a best friend who passed away. Later on, a “Cat that tags” covered it with his ugly tags without any regard or respect. Dose then followed suit by bombing over the mess with this composition of tags. There hasn’t been a tag from him since.
It’s little stories like this that show the timeline of a conflict. A physical representation of time passing. Graffiti is a tradition dating back half a century to the 70’s in Philadelphia. This is marked as the beginning of modern graffiti. A person who passes by writes a tag showing that they were there in that moment, at that time. Eventually, gangs started using it as a way to mark their territory. Like a cat spraying his mark on something graffiti is pretty much the human version. But most graffiti is not done just for the sake of ruining an environment. Most writers do it for the sake of harmless tradition. And others do it for the artistic expression; throwing up murals without permission.
